Creative South is a creative conference held in Columbus, Georgia. My first CS experience was in 2014. I enjoyed it so much that I wanted to create a piece to hand out at this years conference. Each letter is inspired by a design tool or a part of the conference. This year was nothing short of amazing. I heard some amazing speakers and met some great designers that have influenced my design career. Looking forward to next year!
A fun side project I started to expand my illustration and color skills.
I will continue to add state birds so check back frequently.
MILES FOR SMILES
I was given the opportunity to design the 2015 race logo for Trinity Early Learning Center, a non-profit child development program.
It only seemed fitting for me to sign up for the race and run my first 5k. It was a challenge but I finished second in my age group!
When the Atlanta Track Club issued the call for the 2014 AJC Peachtree Road Race t-shirt design entries, I laced up my design shoes and hit the ground running. After some serious coffee consumption and illustration work the design was turned in and the suspense began. I was soon notified by the judges that while “Peachie” was not being selected for the July 4th event, he was a PERFECT solution for the Peachtree Jr. race for kids held on May 17th.
“Peachie” was featured on the Atlanta Track Club website as well as event materials for the Peachtree Jr. and Lil’ Peach Dash.
I got the chance to work on a chalk mural for the Resource holiday e-blast! It took a total of 3 hours to create with only one piece of chalk. Filmed by Reid Childers from Eyesome Productions.
No elves were harmed in the making of this video.
ATLANTA HUMANE SOCIETY
The Atlanta Humane Society hosts an event at their Mansell Campus called Santa at the Shelter. Families are encouraged to bring their pets to take a picture with Santa Clause himself. They also have snacks and crafts to entertain the kids. I designed the poster to be hung around the city. The illustration was also transformed into a coloring page to be used at the craft table.
HOLIDAY POSTCARD SERIES
A series of four holiday postcards designed for the Atlanta Humane Society. Each postcard has an image of a pet up for adoption at the shelter. On top of that is a fun hand drawn holiday scene.
The Atlantic Beach Experimental Theatre was putting on "A Streetcar Named Desire" a 1947 play written by Tennessee Williams. They needed a poster to represent the play without giving away too much of the story.
Following the hours of research were many brainstorming sessions and sketches. Finally getting an understand of the movies storyline, the idea to focus on the lead woman, Blanche, was decided. This confused character was a perfect basis for the poster.
Not to spoil too much of the play or film for those of you who have not seen it, Blanche is a fading, but still attractive, Southern bell whose pretensions to virtue and culture only thinly mask alcoholism and delusions of grandeur. She fights the battle of living in the past vs moving forward the entire time. The poster in itself is an illusion of Blanch wanting to move forward but still looking back.
